Uruguay v France Nil-Nil Tie

The first match for Uruguay is in the books, and it ended up a sister kisser at nil all.

Speaking of ‘in the books’, after a really clean first half, things were getting a little more desperate in the second half, and legs a little bit less fresh and the cards were being thrown around like mastercard intl during the debt boom.

In fact, Uruguay’s young midfield substitute got booked with a red card, which I believe makes him ineligible next game as well.  While Uruguay was not especially threatening they did have a couple of chances with the ball on their striker’s foot in and around the penalty box (forlan).

Abreu came on in the second half in an effort to be more threatening in the air I imagine, but was ineffective as it was shortly before Uruguay went a man down and began playing 10 v 11.

I watched the game streamed on espn3.com which was nice since I didn’t have to go to a bar and drink stale beer in order to enjoy the game.

Tomorrow is US v UK while will be equally interesting and probably more roundly followed ‘up north’.
