Parque Rodo

Suki Davis, in a piece she wrote for ola uruguay described her search for a perfect home. In the piece, before deciding on a property in Cordon, she described parque rodo like this:

“Then we turned our attention to Parque Rodo, another upcoming area complete with classic architecture, tree-lined avenues, and an old-world feel. “Ah yes”, I thought, “this would be the perfect”. The park itself is a tree filled haven where you can enjoy a variety of pastimes. There are civic tennis courts, a sport club, a Sunday market, a huge playground, an art gallery, and enough shade for everyone who wants to spend an afternoon drinking mate with friends. I spent days trudging along the streets of Parque Rodo talking with people and asking about properties that were for sale. Our realtor showed me over 40 houses.”

Parque Rodo itself is a gem of a park and sits in the middle of some of the most appealing single family homes and Montevideo real estate

The park is a fantastic place to spend the day — pretty much any day. I think of it a little bit like a minuaturized version of golden gate park in san francisco, california as it is oblong in shape and runs down toward the “sea” — in this case, the rio plata, and a small white sand beach lined with carnie rides and a casino. Trust me, it’s a lot nicer than that makes it sound.
