Punta Carretas Real Estate

Punta Carretas is probably my favorite neighborhood in Montevideo. It sits on a point that juts out into the rio plata. It’s home to the Punta Carretas lighthouse the old punta carretas prison which has since been turned into an upscale shopping mall, and the punta carretas golf club.

The conversion of the prison launched a previously sleepy, middleclass neighborhood into one of the more upscale and desirable neighborhoods in the city and home to many of the higher end retail and restaurant establishments

Punta Carretas real estate values have soared in recent years with some of the newer condominium developments overlooking the golf course and the river being among some of the more costlier properties in the entire city.
